A viral video showed students queuing for jobs in Canada, raising concerns about employment opportunities for international students.
The recent changes in Canada’s immigration policy by Justin Trudeau's government have caused quite a stir. As people discuss the ups and downs of the international work permit system, a video showing Indian students waiting in a long line for waiter jobs has caught a lot of attention on social media.
The video, filmed outside Tandoori Flame restaurant in Canada, sheds light on the challenges Indian students face when looking for jobs. Agamvir Singh, one of the students in line, mentioned he found out about the job opening through an online ad and was invited for an interview based on his application. Another student pointed out the tough job situation in the country as he commented on the hectic scene outside the restaurant.
Sharing the video, X handle @MeghUpdates wrote: “Scary scenes from Canada as 3,000 students (mostly Indian) line up for waiter and service jobs after a new restaurant opening in Brampton. Massive unemployment in Trudeau’s Canada? Students leaving India for Canada with rosy dreams need serious introspection!”

Struggles of job seekers
Agamvir Singh, one of the students waiting in line, expressed his frustrations, stating, "I came here around 12 noon, and the line was really huge. We put the application on the internet and were told that an interview would be taken. But nothing like that happened. People are just coming here. I don't believe there is scope for jobs here. It is really tough." .
Another student added, “It's so bad; it’s like everyone is looking for a job, and no one is getting a job properly. So many of my friends don’t have a job right now, and they have been here for 2-3 years.” This sense of disillusionment is not isolated, as many others shared similar experiences of struggle in finding employment after relocating to Canada.
Several users engaged with the post, racking up nearly two million views. One user remarked, “Alarming, if true. Canada is facing massive unemployment. I didn’t see this many youths lined up for jobs at new restaurants even in India.” Another added, “It’s shocking to see 3,000 students, mainly from India, waiting for waiter and service jobs in Brampton. This highlights the harsh reality of unemployment in Trudeau’s Canada. Those leaving India with dreams need a serious reality check!”
A third user, living nearby, said, “I live in Brampton, and this Tandoori Flame is just 1.7 km from me. They do this every year for publicity.” Another comment noted, “Indian kids never bothered helping with serving, let alone cooking or doing dishes at home, yet are now scrambling to clean up for strangers in a foreign land.”
