WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY: 19 August

The earliest known instance of photography is from 1839. The Daguerreotype procedure was then announced by the French Academy of Sciences. The procedure did not involve the use of a negative and involved coating the sheet with a thin layer of silver. It became the first technique for making a camera image permanent.

History

George Eastman from Rochester, New York improved the Daguerreotype technique over 40 years later, in 1884. He substituted a dried gel on paper that he named "film" for the copper plate. Photographers no longer had to lug along bulky copper plates and hazardous chemicals thanks to this discovery. Eastman created the Kodak camera in 1888. Almost everyone could now shoot pictures thanks to the inventional.

Many individuals no longer use film in their cameras as a result of the rise in digital photography. On the other hand, some photographers prefer film to digital. They favour film for a variety of reasons, including:

WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY HISTORY

On August 19, 2010, the first World Photography Day was celebrated. On this day, approximately 270 photographers uploaded their images to an international web collection. The online gallery was seen by visitors from more than 100 nations. The first-ever World Photography Day was commemorated at this occasion. The day is celebrated on August 19th since that was the day in 1839 when the French government bought the patent for the Daguerreotype method. The Daguerreotype method was introduced, and the French government referred to it as a free gift to the world.
